DLC Quest Review - Better Gaming Bureau

DLC Quest is a funny, satirical look at recent popular gaming trends such as DLC, having zombies in a game, and paying for extra features. DLC Quest is made by Going Loud Studios and they created one of the best and funniest Xbox Live Indie games ever.

DLC Quest plays out like a simple 2D platformer, but its more than just that. You play as ?Player? and you have to rescue the princess who is kidnapped by the ?Bad Guy?. In this adventure, in order to get different abilities and weapons, you have to collect coins which are easily found throughout each level. These abilities range from being able to double jump to buying armor for your horse and even unlocking the music and sound effects in the game. The graphics have a great retro feel to them and it feels like other games from the 1980s and early 1990s. Its a very colorful game and it looks great.

The controls are flawless in DLC Quest and the jumping feels fantastic. The main goal of the game is to collect enough coins until you acquire an ability such as double jump or a map that will allow you to go into the next level, but there is ?DLC? that is optional to buy with your hard earned coins. These optional ?DLCs? range from a sexy outfits pack to buying a pet. There are also achievements in the game that are cleverly named ?awardments? and you get them for things like completing the game and killing every NPC in a level.

The music and sound effects are great as well as they make you feel like you are in the 1980s again. One of DLC Quest?s strongest features is its witty dialogue and laugh out loud video game humor. You can?t help but to laugh at what gaming is becoming today, and DLC Quest makes light of these latest trends we have been seeing in gaming and turns them around on their ass and all you can do is smile.

DLC Quest is definitely one of the best indie games I have seen and the only one that has actually made me laugh out loud in a long time. While DLC Quest will only take you 1 to 2 hours to beat, it certainly is worth the price of admission.
